Passive ability: ravenous flock
Ravenous: Swain can periodically target a nearby immobilized enemy champion to rip out a soul fragment from them, dealing 20-105 (based on level)(+30% of ability power) magic damage and pulling them toward him.
Flock: Enemy champion takedowns leave a soul fragment behind for 16 seconds. Swain restores 4/5.5/7% of his maximum health and mana whenever he collects a soul fragment, while also permanently increasing his maximum health by 5.
Swain unleashes five bolts of eldritch power in the target direction, dealing 55/75/95/115/135 (+40% ability power) magic damage to all enemies in a cone. Enemies can be hit multiple bolts, taking 15/20/25/35% bonus damage.
Bolts stop on impact with enemy champions.
Vision of empire
Swain summons a demonic eye at the target area that reveals it for 2 seconds before exploding, dealing 100/150/200/250/300 (+70% of ability power) magic damage to all enemies hit, halved against non-champions, and slowing them by 25/35/45/55/65% for 2.5 seconds.
Enemy champions are revealed 4/5/6/7/8 seconds and each grant a soul fragment.
Swain launches a demonic wave in the target direction, dealing 35/70/105/140/175 (+25% of ability power) magic damage to enemies it passes through.
Upon reaching its maximum distance, the wave returns to Swain, detonating at the first enemy hit, dealing 35/ 35/45/55/65/75 (25% of ability power) magic damage to all nearby enemies and rooting them 1.5 seconds.
Swain frees the demon within for 12 seconds, gaining 125/200/275(+5 per soul fragment) bonus health.
While Demonic Ascension is active, Swain drains the 3 enemies closest to him, prioritizing champions, dealing 35/50/65 (+14.167% of ability power) magic damage to them each second, up to a potential 420/600/780 (+170% of ability power) damage per enemy. He also restores 20/35/50(+16% of ability power) health per second for each enemy hit, reduced by 90% against minions and monsters.
Swain can end the effects of Demonic Ascension early to cast Deamonflare, and automatically does so at the end of its duration.
Demonflare: Swain unleashes a nova of soulfire, dealing a minimum of 100/150/200/(+50% of ability power) magic damage to all nearby enemies, plus 75% of health Swain drained during Demonic Ascension. Demonflare’s damage is capped at 200/300/400 (+100% of ability power)
Swain’s ability pick order starts with the E ability at level 1. This will allow him to constantly poke the opposing players when they go for CS. Make sure not to use this ability when there are minions behind the enemy as the ability would hit the minions instead of hitting the enemy champion. Hitting the enemy with your E ability will also allow you to proc Phase Rush/Electrocute. After reaching level 3, by successfully hitting your enemy with your E ability will result in a trade that you’re guaranteed to win
Using your Q ability to gain CS score is fine as long as you don’t overdo it and end up with no mana. However, when you use Q ability to CS make sure to auto-attack and lower the health of as many minions as possible as this would allow you to kill more minions with your Q ability. This technique is especially important since killing minions with your Q will grant you some mana back.
After reaching level 6, whenever Swain uses his ultimate (R), make sure to auto-attack your enemy if you are really close to him. Otherwise don’t, As you don’t want to give him a chance to get away from the ultimate range. However, if the enemy manages to get away, use your ult to push the lane.
Mid game is your time to show your colors. Swain has an outstanding mid-game, especially since part of his ability kit will give your teammates an advantage in team fights (fighting composition). When isolating an opponent or in teamfights his E – Passive and W is a death sentence, will ensure the objective of the trade. And also you can use your W ability to check Drake/Baron and even steal it with a well-timed W if you know the enemy jungler’s spells are on cooldown. This technique can be executed in a well manner depending on your experience in playing this champion.
In a team fight when you use your ultimate make sure to stack it up as much as possible before reactivating it as this would allow you to deal more damage and even one-shot their ADC/APCs by using it in combination with your other abilities.
E W Q combo
R flash Q combo
In my opinion, corrupting potion is really strong on swain right now. 125 health with 75 mana over 12 seconds is a really good deal for 500 gold which also adds to that the extra 15 magic damage while it’s active and you can make your enemies run for their lives.
60 health with 15 ability power and extra mana regeneration is not bad. However, if you are someone who likes to get up close and personal I suggest opting for Corrupting potion instead. Otherwise, your crows will end up eating your corpse instead of your enemy’.
Use this if you are up against heavy CC matchups.
The extra magic penetration provided by this boot is quite handy when it comes to Swain. In fact, unless you are going for the mercs, always pick sorcerer’s shoes.
Rod Of Ages
Core Item for Swain, Which adds its unique passive into Swains arsenal and what do you get? A crazy general that will feed his enemies to his crows.
Works well with Swain due to both its magic penetration and Grievous wound passive. Rush this item against champions with a lot of healing capabilities.
This is one of the best power spike items Swain can get his hands on. Not only will this increase Swain’s ability power, but It will also increase his healing cause it scales up with his AP.
This one should really be on Swain cause you have to walk right into the middle of the enemy team when using your ultimate to get the most out of it. WHAT’S THE BEST WAY YOU CAN DO IT? Walk right into the enemy team AND activate your ultimate and then use Zhonya’s Hourglass. By the time you come out of the stasis, your ult would be stacked and you just have to reactivate it and BOOM!! bye bye ADC! bye-bye, Squishy mid laner. It’s Penta-kill Swain time!
This item is really great when you have to play against tanks cause you deal max health percentage damage. (No I’m talking about you Nautilus. You suck bro!) This item is really strong on Swain because of his ability to allow you to proc its second passive’s second part.
As usual, a go-to item when the enemy team is building magic resist items. To counter magic resists you can always use this item depending on the champion build.
You build this when the enemy team has some mage champ with burst damage. Its unique passive comes in handy when you have to deal with a lot of CC too (BONUS!!!!).
Build this against heavy AP team comps. Its unique passive goes really well with Swain’s Ultimate and his passive.
No argument whether you wanna get your ass out of a sticky situation or catch a fleeing enemy, this will come in handy. Always pick this.
Best spell to secure kills. Will increase your ability to all in.
Pick this if the enemy team has hard CC champions.
This is for you if you like appearing out of nowhere and scaring the hell out of your enemies. Also good when you are up against hard matchups.
Yeah unless you plan on trying to outrun Singed don’t pick this. Been there. Done that. Sadly you are still no match for him. (When it comes to movement speed)
1st Rune set Primary set
Damaging a champion with an ability hurls a comet at their location dealing 30 – 100 (based on level) (Adaptive ratio: +35% of Bonus Attack Damage or +20% of Ability Power) adaptive damage.
Again this will help you to keep up with your enemies once you activate your ultimate.
Extra movement speed. Swain LIKEY!!! Also, the speed buffs from Phase rush and Nimbus cloak will grant you additional AP.
Good choice for our Swain boy for the late game. Better than Scorch in my opinion, you can once for a while.
Good choice to save some gold and the extra movement speed is always welcome when it comes to Swain. Especially good when you have to play against champions like Xerath. The only drawback is that you have to play without boots for 12 minutes if you are doing poorly in your lane.
2nd Rune set Secondary rune set
Really great choice on Swain. Winning trades is really easy with this on his kit.
Works really well with Swain’s E ability.
Extra 30 AP is quite nice in Swain.
25% Cooldown Reduction on Swain is insane cause most of his tankiness lies in his ultimate.
Good choice for Swain since he’s not much strong in the late game. Better than Scorch in my opinion.
A good choice for Swain. You will be able to stay in lane longer before going back to the base to replenish your mana.
